Jets fall short
Tuesday 1st of June, 2010

The Jets went agonizingly close to their third SCAFL premiership in three years, going down in the final seconds by a straight kick from the Beachside Sharks the Grand Final.

The Jets played a near faultless defensive game with captain KB Nelson directing traffic at center half back, and proven defenders Mike Hertstein and Rob Alexander at his flanks. Added to the mix were first year players Steve Tait and Paul Lima who have stamped thier authority all season and did so again in the final.

Ruckamn Tyler Mounce blanketed the Sharks' Ryan Weller in his best game of the year, while his on-baller Brad Wetherall took advantage of Tylers taps and had a blinder, earning the MVP medal for best on ground.

Meanwhile Jets full forward Andy Treanor continued to present well and the small forwards were at his feet in support. Basically the Jets were switched on, the plan was in place and working well, and all their guns were firing.

So WTF happened?? Well that is one of those great mysteries that can only be put down to the fact that footy is a funny old game. A side can completely dominate a match and still not win it, as the Jets showed beautifully. However the Sharks deserved their win and simply had the answers when it mattered.

The Jets can take a lot from the Metro season, a record nineteen players qualified to suit up for the GF and of those eleven were first year players. Some exciting talent has been unearthed once again and the Jets continue to lead the way in recruiting and development, and hopefully the OC Bombers side will again have a healthy dose of Jets players in the squad.

Well done to everyone on a terrific season, now lets all pull on the Bombers strip and look towards Nationals.
